Location

Tahoma, is on Lake Tahoe's west shore, in California, USA, just north of Sugar Pine Point State Park and Emerald Bay State Park. 1 mile south of Homewood. 7 miles south of Tahoe City (10-15 minute drive). Approximately 30 minutes driving time to casinos on north or south shores. Reno Airport is a 75 minute drive. Internet search on MapQuest or MapBlast for 6912 Pomin Avenue, Tahoma, CA 96142.

Accommodations

House:

Lakeside bedroom with California king bed.
Second bedroom with queen bed.
Third bedroom is children's den with bunkbed and two five foot long captain beds with curtains.
Queen sleeper sofa in upstairs den.
2 bathrooms.

Apartment: The Captain's Quarters

Available to our house renters only is an attached suite with queen bed, queen sleeper sofa in lakeside living room, bathroom, kitchen, outside and interior entrances, satellite TV, VCR/DVD, stereo, deck, gas log stove. This is not rented separately. The owners may use it when guests are not renting it.

Cabins:

Two rustic cabins are included in the summer. They do not have bathrooms. The Adam House, the former ice house, has 2 bunkbeds. The Sentry House, the former tack house, has a full bed.

Bathrooms:

There are 3 bathrooms: a full bathroom with tub and separate shower upstairs; a bathroom with shower in downstairs bedroom wing; and a bathroom with shower in apartment suite.

Nearby Attractions

Leave your car and walk to shops in quaint Tahoma. Nearby is a country market with a good variety of groceries, great deli sand-wiches and a nice wine selection. You'll find a post office, video rental shop, kayak rentals, pizzeria, coffee and ice cream spot, and two restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and fine dinners. A short drive up the west shore takes you to more good restaurants for nice meals out.

Hike and bike on trails leading to Sugar Pine Point, Bliss, and Emerald Bay State Parks with beaches, national forest, and the Desolation Wilderness. A meandering paved bike path makes its way to TahoeCity, down the Truckee River all the way to Squaw Valley. The house is on a quiet lane far from the main road, and bikes can be ridden there well away from traffic. Sugar Pine State Park also has tennis courts. Launch your boat in Homewood 5 minutes away, or rent boats nearby in Tahoe City or Meeks Bay. The golf course in Tahoe City is 7 miles away. Many other golf courses are nearby.

In the winter, alpine skiing and snow boarding are just five minutes away at Homewood Mountain Resort, known for its warm hospitality, groomed runs and spectacular lake views from its 56 runs. Go cross country skiing and snowshoeing on machine groomed trails near the house, and on the track used in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Sugar Pine Point Park. Call up our massage therapist for a private treatment at the house. Finish up with a soak in the bubbling hot tub by the lake!
